You need to catch intermittent network timing issues—or stress test systems before deployment. The JT-1.1 and JT-10.1 are purpose-built appliances that combine timing measurement, impairment injection, and triggered capture in a single portable device.

JT-10.1

10 Gbps Network Test Appliance

For machine vision, broadcast audio, and industrial control systems where bandwidth demands exceed 1 Gbps.

JT-10.1 form factor

Specification
Data Ports2× 10 GbE SFP+ (Intel X710)
Management1× 2.5 GbE RJ45
Performance10 Gbps line rate
Form FactorCompact workstation (196×189×48mm)
Power20-65W

Key capabilities:

  • Trap + capture — Set timing thresholds, automatically capture when exceeded
  • Impairment injection — Delay, jitter, packet loss at 10 Gbps line rate
  • Timing measurement — Microsecond resolution, see variance not just averages
  • SFP+ flexibility — Fiber (SR/LR) or copper (DAC, 10GBASE-T)
  • Hardware timestamping — Intel X710 NICs for accurate timing

Applications:

JT-1.1

1 Gbps Network Test Appliance

A compact, fanless device for systems where 1 Gbps is sufficient.

JT-1.1 form factor

Specification
Data Ports2× 2.5 GbE RJ45
Management1× 2.5 GbE RJ45
Performance1 Gbps sustained
Form FactorFanless desktop (130×130×50mm)
Power10-15W

Key capabilities:

  • All JT-10.1 capabilities at 1 Gbps
  • Fanless, silent operation
  • Compact form factor for bench or field use

Applications:

  • Development and test labs
  • VoIP and telephony systems
  • IoT device testing
  • System integration verification

How It Works

Trap + Capture

Set a threshold based on your application's timing requirements. When the threshold is violated:

  1. Trap triggers — timing anomaly detected
  2. Ring buffer saves — last 30 seconds of traffic captured
  3. Evidence preserved — pcap file ready for Wireshark analysis

You don't have to be watching. Set the trap, let it run, come back to evidence.

Impairment Injection

Create controlled network conditions to find where systems break:

ImpairmentRange
Delay0–10,000 ms
JitterUniform or normal distribution
Packet loss0–100%
Bandwidth limitConfigurable

Inject impairments while measuring timing. Find the threshold where your application fails.

Timing Measurement

See what standard monitoring hides:

  • Inter-packet timing with microsecond resolution
  • Throughput and packet rate
  • TCP analysis (RTT, window size, retransmissions)
  • Per-flow statistics

Averages hide the spikes that break real-time systems. JitterTrap shows the variance.

Interface

  • Web UI — Works from any browser, no software installation
  • REST API — Automation and integration
  • mDNS discovery — No IP configuration required
  • pcap export — Standard format, Wireshark compatible

The Gap It Fills

Tool CategoryLimitation
Cable testersValidate physical layer, don't test timing
Protocol analyzersCapture packets, can't inject impairments
Enterprise emulatorsDo both, cost $50K–500K

JitterTrap appliances: impairment injection + timing measurement + triggered capture, portable, under $5K.
